They give you a certain amount of faith and believe, that you are honest and you don't want to make money on them. Similar it is with friends. I don't do these type of practises, but I just want to show you, that they exist and work very well. Lets say that you know your friend wants to buy a laptop. You can get it for 200 dollars and in a shop it costs 300. You can offer it to your friend lets say for 230 dollars. But you can also be honest and sell it to him for your asking price 200 dollars.
